Welcome!

The Outreach Center for Teaching Ocean Science (OCTOS) opens a new window on the sea! Using the latest technology, students of all ages will be immersed in the ocean to explore its critical role on the planet and to seek solutions to its most pressing problems.

OCTOS joins together the innovative resources and outreach programs of two renowned institutions: the Marine Science Institute (MSI) at the University of California Santa Barbara (UCSB) and the Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary (CINMS).

Exhibits and programs at OCTOS feature state-of-the-art technology with compelling, innovative, hands-on programming. Our goals are to increase ocean and scientific literacy as well as environmental stewardship by engaging visitors in the process of scientific discovery.
The exhibits at OCTOS are not yet completed, so classroom visits are not possible at this time. If you are interested in our current outreach programs or in visiting The REEF at Campus Point, please contact outreach@msi.ucsb.edu
